Grooming Goes Wild

American Evangelical Christianity is a system of psychological control that is dangerous to the soul and rooted in a backlash to the civil rights movement1¹. It is primarily maintained through fear, coercion, and enforced ignorance implanted so deeply into the developing psyche that it is never questioned or examined.

The civil rights movement of the 1960’s galvanized white Christians. Because they were too deeply insecure to willingly take their boot off the neck of minorities and take their rightful place as equals, the sight of free black people, gay people and women inspired fear, anger and terror instead of the normal human reactions of joy, community and connection. Losing their automatic place at the top of the hierarchy felt like a personal attack on their way of life so they set up an ambitious decades long plan to turn the tide.

Grooming

The Christian Brainwashing Industrial Complex (CBIC) was created to manufacture a consistent pipeline of voters/foot soldiers and the virgins willing to submit to them. By the 1980s, this totalizing ecosystem of Christian television stations, radio stations, publishing companies, schools, colleges, churches and non-profits coalesced into a decentralized network whose overarching goal was industrialized grooming. Largely hidden to non-Christians, the CBIC is an all encompassing parallel culture that cultivates the authoritarian beliefs and leaders that are corrupting our human rights and democracy while isolating children from the outside influence that might contradict them.

Unfortunately, their plan was wildly successful. What at first felt fringe and improbable is now at the forefront of American life. Armed with grudges and delusions, they are arriving in the halls of power with a chip on their shoulder and a bloodthirsty hunt for some necks to stomp.

The Engine of Authoritarian Control: Brainwashing from Birth

Control Internal World + control External World = Brainwashing

Step 1: Control Internal World

“Breaking a child’s will” is a key tenet of American Evangelical parenting practices. A child’s will is considered evil from birth and must be eradicated to avoid hell.

Breaking a child’s will is actually inducing structural disassociation². This is a SEVERE condition that fragments a child’s psyche, leaving them unable to access both their authentic self and the traumatic memories behind the dissociative wall.

Step 2: Control External World

Isolate the broken child from the wider world (so nobody notices or can help). Complete indoctrination requires denying access to any information or people that might contradict the official narrative.

To this end, Christians created their own all encompassing parallel culture to shield their minds from ever having the tools to exercise critical thinking, self reflection or emotional growth.

This decentralized network of religious institutions, media empires and local churches includes:

• Christian Curriculum for Private/Homeschool education
• Christian Radio, TV, Books, Movies, Music (CBN, TBN, CCM, the entire Christian bookstore)
• Christian Marriage and Parenting Manuals (Focus on the Family, Growing Kids Gods Way, Gary Ezzo)
• Christian Magazines, Forums and Websites (Christianity Today, Charisma, FoTF Portfolio)
• Right Wing Political Groups, Non-Profits and Militias
• Children’s Church, VBS, Awana, Youth Group, Mission Trips
• Campus Crusade for Christ (now Cru), YWAM, Teen Mania Ministries (now defunct)
• Christian College Pipeline to Religious Lobbying in Washington DC
• And now…Podcast Bros, TikTok tradwives and Incels…oh my

Now they want to take their successful blueprint for brainwashing nationwide and make it government mandated for every child across the entire nation.

As part of the first generation raised within the confines of the Christian Brainwashing Industrial Complex, I emerged into adulthood frighteningly ignorant and ripe for abuse and exploitation – and a reliable voter for Republicans.

This movement is growing. It will not die off and go away on its own. Young men are already trending more conservative than ever before – and this comprehensive suite of brainwashing tools is only accelerating.

Christian Nationalists are busy brainwashing the next generation, this time optimized with algorithms and AI. Preying on young men and women with the deceptive advertising of “tradwives³” while taking away birth control and abortion is an obvious recipe to force the birth of a new generation – one who will be entirely raised by Christian Nationalist Ideology – if we let them.

Recall their complaints about public schools indoctrinating kids? That was projection based on their own worldview because educating children never actually occurs to them.

As long as this movement fraudulently claims the moral high ground and continues brainwashing the population unimpeded it poses an existential threat to human rights, democracy and the entire planet.

People who have bought into this system are not reasonable. They will NEVER share a reality with the rest of us. They literally believe they are helping to bring about the end of the world and the 1000 year reign of Jesus on earth. They are more than happy to nuke it all – literally. They think that’s what God wants them to do.

I know because I used to be one of them.

Identity Crisis

You can’t change a radicalized Christian’s mind because they aren’t arguing from their mind. They are arguing from their identity. Because for them to be wrong would be an existential crisis that shakes the foundations of their entire life…and most people aren’t up for that on a random Tuesday.⁴ Especially when the stakes are eternal damnation in hell.

Christians raised in the CBIC, like me, were intentionally deprived of the right to discover their own identity. Our own ideas, desires and dispositions were squashed forcefully. But everyone HAS to have an identity. If you were never allowed to discover and build your own identity from the inside out through experiencing the cycle of normal human development, you will take on an external identity then defend it as if its your own.

CHANGE is possible but leaving everything you’ve ever known is not for the faint of heart. Most therapists aren’t truly equipped to work with this population. The best therapy methods include a focus on developing safety, feeling the body and staying with a person in their pain without denying, dismissing or sugarcoating. No amount of CBT reframing will undo the magnitude of what was stolen and the raw agonizing heartbreaking grief of being unwelcome and unloved by the very people that were supposed to welcome and love you.

The vast majority of therapists will have no idea what to do with someone who has been conditioned into self abandonment and self hatred from birth.

Luckily, the brain is malleable and it changes based on experience. Neuroplasticity can be induced in a variety of ways which helps rewire the brain from old, harmful and deeply ingrained patterns. But these methods only work on people who have already started de-radicalizing of their own free will. Creating a new identity from scratch is not for the faint of heart. Creating an identity as a child comes completely naturally because our brains are wired like sponges during critical periods⁵. As our brains mature in adulthood they become less flexible. It takes more effort to learn but it can be done.

De-radicalizing a population of active cult members is downright impossible. Especially when we let the cult keep radicalizing them.

Now What?

This is a call to understand the reality of what we are dealing with. Even in areas where you might find surface agreement (local politics, community engagement, even family) know that anyone who has bought into this system sees you fundamentally as either a convert to be won over or an enemy to be dominated. Until either of those happens, they will never let you see the real them.

That’s why people are shocked when a loved one turns out to hold some horrific view. They have been hiding that view the whole time. They never planned to respect your view – the plan was always to win you over or bulldoze you.

They were not planning any options that involved your input.

Authoritarianism in action, perpetuated silently in our interpersonal relationships. Multiply that by however many million cult members they currently have.

You can see we’ve got a real problem on our hands. This Christian cancer is eating away at our society.

Nobody wants to hear the words, “You have cancer.” But hearing the words didn’t give you the cancer – you already had it, you just didn’t know it. As long as you remained in blissful ignorance it silently grew larger attacking more and more of your body. Knowing is a gift. Once you know, you can do something about it.

If the patient has a chance of surviving, the cancerous tumor of Christian Nationalism has to be excised.
